A question to Kossacks:
Where is all of our heavy-hitting protest music?
(I'm talking every genre: blues, gospel, rock and roll, country, contemporary classical, lounge, hip hop, folk, you name it....)
Can you attach your favorites? In this climate of bands and artists self-censoring or fearing censorship there are many brave artists who are still "doing their jobs" (hey, even Burt Bacharach came out with an anti-neocon album last year)-- that is, raising questions, providing hope via art and music, and holding those in power accountable.
Will you attach links and help assemble a list of all of the worthwhile protest music out there?
(Any genre... specifically music being written now, but also great protest music from the past... heck, even Beethoven angrily scribbled out the Napoleon dedication on his Third Symphony after he realized Napoleon was the 1800s equivalent of a no-good, lying, cheating, imperialist neocon...)
