Democrats may make huge gains in November 2006--enough to win back the U.S. House and perhaps the Senate. But according to David Lindorff, it may not matter.
This is a stunning article here and here where he argues convincingly that any gains made by Democrats in 2006 can swiftly be negated by the stroke of a pen--(via the infamous signing orders that have allowed George W. Bush and Richard Cheney to undermine over 750 constitutional laws). Note, even if the Democrats control both the House and the Senate after November 2006, the president can still issue signing orders to negate any legislature proposed by a Democratic Congress. Lindorff explains further and offers solutions on the flip.
